Widget Not Updating on Lock Screen?

If your Home Screen or Lock Screen widget seems frozen or unresponsive after tapping attendance buttons, check the following iOS settings:

  • Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled under iOS Settings → BunkSafe.
  • Disable Low Power Mode if active, as iOS restricts widget background cycles during power saving.
  • Remove the widget from your screen, restart your iPhone, and add the widget back from the widget gallery.

iCloud Sync Not Reflecting on iPad?

BunkSafe relies on Apple's CloudKit architecture. If your schedule isn't appearing across your secondary devices, verify these requirements:

  • Confirm that you are logged into the exact same Apple ID on all devices.
  • Go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Drive, and make sure BunkSafe has toggle permission enabled.
  • Ensure you have available storage space in your iCloud account (BunkSafe syncs use less than 1MB of space).

Notifications & Reminders Silent?

Never miss a morning attendance reminder or a low percentage warning by reviewing your iOS notification configuration:

  • Open iOS Settings → Notifications → BunkSafe and verify that Allow Notifications and Time Sensitive Alerts are turned ON.
  • Check if an iOS Focus Mode (like Study, Do Not Disturb, or Sleep) is silencing alerts during your lecture hours.

Understanding Attendance Math

Wondering why a missed class dropped your percentage by 3% instead of 2%? Here is how academic calculation works in BunkSafe:

  • Percentage = (Attended / Conducted) × 100. Early in the semester when total conducted classes are low, each individual lecture carries a much higher mathematical weightage.
  • If a professor cancels a class, tap "Cancelled" instead of "Absent"—this removes the class from the conducted denominator without harming your percentage.

Each subject you create tracks three core parameters: Total Conducted Lectures, Attended Lectures, and Target Percentage (e.g., 75% or 80%). Whenever you mark "Present", both Attended and Conducted increment by 1. Whenever you mark "Absent", only Conducted increments by 1. BunkSafe constantly computes the remaining buffer (Safe Bunks) or deficit (Required Attendance) automatically.
BunkSafe is compiled natively using Apple's SwiftUI and WidgetKit frameworks. Instead of running continuous background CPU loops that consume battery, iOS triggers lightweight background tasks only when you interact with a button or when scheduled timetable transitions occur. This results in virtually zero battery impact.
We never store your attendance logs on our servers. BunkSafe uses Apple's CloudKit technology to sync data directly between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac via your personal iCloud container. We do not have access to your Apple ID, your subjects, or your academic history.
All notifications in BunkSafe are generated locally on your device. You can configure morning reminders to prompt you before class starts, evening check-in reminders to log the day's attendance, and critical warning alerts when any subject approaches your minimum required attendance threshold.
Yes! If you had iCloud Sync enabled, simply reinstalling BunkSafe and signing into your Apple ID will restore your entire semester automatically. Additionally, you can export local JSON backup files from Settings -> Backup & Restore -> Export Backup, which you can save to Apple Files or Google Drive and re-import at any time.
You have complete control over your data. To wipe all records, navigate to BunkSafe Settings -> Privacy & Data -> Delete All Semester Data. This deletes all databases locally and purges all synchronized CloudKit records from your iCloud account instantly.
